
Using CovaClear® IV to Protect Dressings from Contamination
CovaClear® IV is a clear gentle silicone adhesive protective barrier that can be applied over your primary dressing to protect it from contamination and minimize unplanned dressing changes. The dressing comes with optional acrylic strips for added securement around the border.
Replace CovaClear® IV if it becomes
contaminated or compromised as per your facility protocol
What To Do When a Contamination Event Occurs
Think C.R.A.P
- Clean off gross contamination from CovaClear® IV and surrounding area
- Remove CovaClear® IV carefully to keep the underneath primary dressing intact
- Assess the area for any signs of remaining contamination and primary dressing disruption. If the primary dressing is contaminated, follow your facility protocol.
- Place a new CovaClear® IV over the primary dressing ensuring the surrounding skin is clean and dry of any solutions.


Application Tips
- Ensure the primary dressing is applied and the skin is dry of any solutions.
- As you cover the primary dressing, ensure to overlap dry surrounding skin.
- Do not stretch the dressing or strips during application.
- Apply the strips around the border of the dressing for added reinforcement unless the patients has a known hypersensitivity or allergy to acrylic adhesives.
- You may apply the strips with skin barrier.
- Do not apply the strip directly over the primary dressing.
